The village of 558 inhabitants lies to the south of Tab, 10km from that. Until 1950 it belomged to Tolna county. Bedegkér was formed by the integration of two villages: Bedeg and Magyarkér in 1939. After the Turkish were expelled, the village was settled partly by German families. Their Roman Catholic church was built in 1754, and was enlarged in 1910. Furniture of the church dates from the 18th century. Changes that have taken place during the last 40 years have led to a decrease in the number of inhabitants. Many houses are empty waiting for their new occupiers. Residents of the village work in the local agricultural co - operative and industrial unit. Unfortunately, the slaughter - house does not work. It was a great event when the multi - functional gymnasium of the primary school was opened in 1996. |
